Paneltex Fundraising 10K ‘Not Fast, Just Furious’ About Hull Hunger
Paneltex-backed team runs Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k for Hull Foodbank
Hull, UK, 18 July 2022 – A Paneltex-sponsored team has been raising money for Hull Foodbank, by running in the Jane Tomlinson Hull 10K on June 12 2022. The team, comprising Paneltex employees James Oxtoby, Kirsty Sach and Mahlon Dallee and former Paneltex employee Allan Hill, decided to participate in the 10k in 2019, but were delayed due to lockdowns until this year’s event.
‘We’re all from Hull, and we all live in and around Hull, so we’ve seen first-hand how poverty affects the city. This 10k was a chance to help out Hull Foodbank with Paneltex’s support, which means a lot’, said Kirsty Sach, Paneltex’s Warranty and Service Manager and participant in the run.
When asked about the team’s name, Paneltex Sales Manager James Oxtoby said, “We chose the name ‘Not Fast, Just Furious’ for our corporate team because we really are! We might not be the fastest people out on the track, but we’re furious about the thought of people in our city going hungry.”
Hull Foodbank hands out approximately 5000 parcels a year to people in the area who need immediate help. The parcels, containing long-life food items such as tins, can provide food for three days for a single person, a couple, or a family, and are allocated based on referrals from other organisations in the city that work with vulnerable people. The Foodbank also provides toiletries and pet or baby care items if needed.
‘It’s been so nice to see how much people are willing to support us’, added Paneltex Sales Office Manager Mahlon Dallee, another participant. ‘The company is always supportive of people who want to come forward and do something for charity.’
As part of their annual charitable strategy, Paneltex chooses a charity to support for the year. This year’s choice of Hull Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, was motivated in part by the difficulties faced by low-income and vulnerable people around Hull in the uncertain economic circumstances of this year. In addition to paying the corporate team event fee for the 10k entry, the company has pledged to double the funds collected to support the Foodbank.
‘The industry we supply the most is the home delivery and grocery industry, so we thought it made sense for Paneltex to support Hull Foodbank this year’, said Paneltex Company Secretary Jane Berridge. ‘We know times have been hard for everyone, and we’re pleased to be able to be a part of ensuring families have food on the table when they need it. The work the Hull Foodbank does with emergency hunger relief is incredible, and we’re honoured to work with them this year to ensure all Hull residents are supported in their time of need.’
Paneltex has held a number of fundraising events for the charity, and will continue to do so through the rest of 2022. If you’d like to make a donation to support the 10k team you can do so through the JustGiving site James has set up at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/paneltex-hull10k or by emailing the Paneltex media team at media@paneltex.co.uk with ‘DONATION 10K’ in the subject line.
