Introducing the quality department’s new inspector: Kevin Wilson

This summer saw some exciting changes at Paneltex, including site expansions and further refinement of our production lines. One of these was the overhaul of one of our sites in Hull, which is now dedicated to a single programme of refurbishments and remounts of second-life home delivery van boxes onto new chassis-cabs.

Through a programme of work such as this, there is a strong need for an effective focus on vehicle quality when they leave the production line. So, to that end, our most recent quality inspector, Kevin Wilson, ensures the high quality of these refurbished vehicles. Proving a successful way to double a vehicle’s working life, everyone working on the line at our refurbishments site is focused and committed to seeing the highest quality vehicles possible after the remount. Kevin’s job is to inspect the final products to assure that this high level of quality is consistently achieved.

Kev joined Paneltex in November 2013 as part of the prep department initially, before moving onto the door manufacturing department – a highly specialised part of our operation. He remained part of this team until his successful move into the quality department this year. He describes his new role as challenging, yet rewarding, given the opportunity to see so many refurbished vehicles leaving the factory looking like new. Kev is educated to degree level and enjoys, amongst other things, woodworking, joinery and riding his Vespa scooter.
